<div>Many of you may know of BWB and their incredible fundraisers that have been held this year in a wherehouse in Barrio Logan. Well we are at it again, organizing what will be the biggest and best event that we have attempted so far. Our hallmark is bringing art and entertainment from the SD burning man community to a huge wherehouse space and then filling that creative beautiful space with the most loving and awesome people San Diego has to offer. I can not think of a better place to bring in the new year then with this community that has supported us for our last three hugely successful findraising events. I would also like to see any other people who are interested in contributing their art, music, or just great energy to make our new years eve the best party in town. We have some great talent lined up already for our show. But we are looking for more Dj's to spin the night away, and any kind of art that our community has to offer. We will be launching our website soon. Tickets will be presale only and will sell out fast. I will post a link as soon as we are operational. Now I know many of you think because of the word “tribal”, this event has nothing to offer to YOU. This would be incorrect. <br/> <br/>What is Alchemy? By definition, alchemy is “ A medieval chemical philosophy having as its asserted aims the transmutation of base metals into gold, the discovery of the panacea, and the preparation of the elixir of longevity. “ How this translates to US is the mixture of different elements of dance and music to create something entirely new. <br/> <br/>We offer affordable workshops, 36.00 each (which are approximately one week’s worth of fast food for most) and these workshops are instructed by some of the most sought after teachers around. <br/> <br/>For the musicians, we have with us this year Mr. Dave Hall, who has toured with Solace Live and himself has been a drumming instructor for over 15 years. <div>Hello dancers in and near LA! <br/> I am putting together a Modern Theatrical Bellydance show for a one night performance in a small black box theater. It will be in late Aug. or early Sept. <br/> The show is a presentation of the Orientalist image from paintings, costume design sketches, and cheesecake art from the Industrial Age up to the Golden Age of Classical Bellydance(late 1800's-1950's). The working title is Paintings. Each piece is inspired by an image from Orientalist artwork, when European and American painters traveled to the MidEast for inspiration and they found the fascinating subject of the dancing girls. A flood of Bellydancers became the subject for paintings for several decades, and the turn of the century brought in the highly sexualized, Western interpretation of the "Harem Girl", mostly non-MidEastern ladies depicted in cheesecake poses with tiny bras and sheer pants :) Salome was one of the most frequently depicted subjects, and the whole idea of the dangerously sexy femme fatale became wildly popular. A few of the choreos are literally the painting coming to life, while others are inspired by the feeling or look of the artwork. <br/> Rehearsals are not paid; they are 2 hours per week, every Sunday, and I am providing snacks and refreshments. I watched the miles copeland 2005 american bellydancer the other day and there is a song towards the end (about 12-15 minutes before end) that is haunting me. I am literally going crazy trying to find the music. Rachel Brice is performing kinda in slow mo- and the music that is playing is slow and beautiful. It isn't the full song, only like a 1 1/2 and then it's the end of the bellydance show and the dancers are cheering and really happy as the curtain drops and then there is narative over the music.
