My friend's fiancee owns a film and animation studio in the San Fernando valley. His last film was over a million dollar budget and won tons of awards and a version of it is available at Blockbuster and Amazon.

He is filming the sequel in March and wants two authetnitc and trained bellydancers in their own costumes to perform in a couple scenes. It will be a one day shoot.
Here's the catch - it is an adult film. You can find info about the original and see the sequel at www.piratesthemovie.com.
However, the dancers WILL NOT BE NUDE. You bring your own outfits. Also, you may wear a mask to hide your identity and you need not be listed in the credits. The director, Joone, is very willing to accommodate whatever will make the dancers feel comfortable, he just really wants the film to be as authentic as possible. You may also bring a significant other or friend with you...you don't know me, but I know hollywood is full of creeps and people taking advantage of women - but this honestly isn't that situation. He just wants two dancers to come do their dances and I believe at one point there will be a sex scene going on in the background.
I know this won't be for everyone, but for someone looking to make $500 cash for a day's work, it could be a great opportunity.
The last movie, pirates, was made into an R-rated version which is available through Blockbuster and Amazon. This one will be filmed in Blu-Ray.

Anyway, if you are trained in the authentic dances and are willing to discuss the opportunity, please contact my friend Brandy (It's her fiancee) at her myspace: www.myspace.com/brandyleeledford
her fiancee, Joone, is her top friend and so you can also check out the trailer for Pirates II on his page.
I really hope that they can find the bellydancers they want because it would also expose REAL bellydancing to a whole new audience, I should think.

Thank you for reading this and passing it on to anyone you think might be interested.

  • Regarding wanting the film to "be as authentic as possible"....

Maybe I missed this in bellydance 101, but I'm pretty sure that bellydancers dancing while pirates have sex in the background isn't very authentic. I could be wrong; I'll have to check with my bf, who's a big pirate buff (historical ones, not the porno).

I gotta admit, though, this would be a fun gig if it weren't a porno, and I'd definitely be interested if Johnny Depp were involved ;)
  • I'm supporting the last posts, I don't know how you can put "authentic bellydancing" in the same paragraph as "there will be a sex scene going on the background."

This is the very image our community is trying to avoid. If $500 can spare us from building onto this misconception, it'd be worth the price. If you could perhaps nix the sex scene and place the dancing in a more "authentic" environment, since that's what you say the director is going for anyway, you might get a more positive response.

  • You know, this is sad. Really sad.

I admit to being tempted, momentarily, not because of the money or the fame, but because I think it would be HILARIOUS to be in the sequel to "Pirates" without having to get my booty plundered. If I could be a tavern wench in the background or serve food or something, instead of plundering the art form I work in, I'd do it in a heartbeat! Just for the humor factor.
    • Although I've always wanted to walk the plank, that's not quite the 'plank' I had in mind.

Seriously though, there's not a hope in Hades that I would even be able to concentrate on my "authentic bellydancing" when there's folks grunting, moaning, groaning and oh ah oh ah oh more more more along with slip slop slap slurp in the background.

The only bellydancing you'd get outta me would be a rip snorting belly shimmy because I'd be on the floor laughing my guts out as soon as some chick fakes an orgasm.
