Sahra Saeeda Kent, renowned teacher, superb dancer and respected dance ethnographer in a weeklong series of performances, workshops and Journey Through Egypt Level 1 certifying course.
Sahra is sure to delight with her lucid and experienced teaching techniques and her dazzlingly lovely dancing. We are pleased to host her in the great plains of the True North! Journey Through Egypt Gala Show takes place Sept. 1, doors at 7:30, show at 8 pm, with dancers from across Canada presenting Egyptian sub-styles, including Saidi, melayya, assaya, baladi, and stylings of great stars such as Tahia Carioca, Souhair Zaki, and Fifi Abdo.
Tickets are available in advance at Au Set Belly Dance, 1045 St. James at Ellice, or through your registration in the workshops. JtE 1 will be Sept. 4-6 (20 hours total)and is 60% sold out. It will take place at Rising Star Dance Academy, Regent Avenue West at Panet Road. We still have room in the balady and sharqi workshops, Sept, 2 and 3 (evenings), held in the Korol Studio of the historic Pantages Playhouse Theatre, Market Avenue at Main Street, in the heart of the Exchange district.
